Katie Price has backed Sharon Osbourne’s controversial comments on Madeleine McCann, suggesting her parents shouldn’t have left her alone on the night she disappeared.

Speaking on Loose Women, the former model claimed that she was on ‘Sharon’s side’ in the argument, adding that the McCanns weren’t in their ‘right mind’ to leave Maddie alone in their room.

Katie said:

Why in your right mind would you leave your kids in a room? It doesn’t matter who you are, you don’t leave your children. I’m on Sharon’s side. If you are on holiday, your kids sleep in buggies, why in your right mind would you leave your kids in a room? I don’t care if it is a safe place or if you can see them or not.

She added that the McCanns, “shouldn’t have gone on holiday if they wanted to leave them in a room.”

Her comments came after Sharon was slammed a few days ago for branding Kate and Gerry McCann as ‘insane’ for leaving their three-year-old daughter alone in their hotel room while they were on holiday at a resort in Portugal back in 2007.

The former X Factor judge made the claims on her U.S. chat show The Talk, where she criticised parents for leaving their children unsupervised.

Sharon said:

I will tell you a very quick story. There was a husband and wife on holiday in Portugal. They left their baby in the room sleeping, sleeping while they went to dinner in the restaurant. While they were in the resort their baby was taken. And it is like, ‘Oh but we can see everything that is going on’ and it is, like, insane.

In response, a friend of the McCann family spoke to The Mirror after the show was broadcast and claimed Sharon’s remarks were ‘ignorant’ and ‘ill-informed’.

They said:

She should think about the effect it could have on Madeleine’s brother and sister, as well as the wider family. Kate and Gerry have never forgiven themselves and this should not have been aired in a random way, as it apparently was. It’s based on ignorance of the true facts. While she’s entitled to her view she should keep it to herself.

Maddie was snatched from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in May 2007, days before her fourth birthday and has never been found.
