Keanu Reeves is an iconic actor with a net worth estimated to be at an impressive $350 million, but despite his wealth and fame, he doesn’t give one solitary damn about his appearance.
If you ever needed proof The Matrix and John Wick actor could care less about his looks, these recent pictures of Reeves rocking no shoes and looking like Forrest Gump is the perfect example.
The 53-year-old was spotted in Brooklyn during early film shoots for the highly anticipated John Wick: Chapter 3 and let’s just say he’s seen better days.
While in the last two films Reeves was looking well-toned and slick in his bespoke hitman suit, here he was rocking long unkempt hair under a red trucker hat, a scruffy beard and no shoes, with a cigarette in hand. If he was trying to go for the ‘incognito, please don’t bother me look’, he nailed it to a tee.
However, while it might seem the actor has fallen on hard times, it actually looks like the starting point for the third John Wick film.
At the end of 2017’s John Wick: Chapter 2 his character had been disavowed by the clandestine assassins guild and a huge bounty had been placed on his head. It appears when we eventually join up with old Johnny boy well find him living rough on the streets of New York trying to keep a low profile from any assassins who are dumb enough to try and claim the bounty.
This month it was announced shooting for the third John Wick film would begin very soon with Reeves returning to the role of the titular character.
It’s believed Laurence Fishburne, Ruby Rose, Common and Ian McShane could all be returning for the third film too, while Westworld’s Hiroyuki Sanada is rumoured to be the main villain.
Series director Chad Stahelski has promised the third film will finally explore the origins of John Wick – aka the ‘baba yaga’, aka ‘the man you send in to kill the boogeyman’.
Prior to the announcement, Reeves expressed an interest in wanting to shoot in Tokyo and Jerusalem. Footage of him getting ready for the third film has also gone viral. In the video, Reeves is going through an assault course like it was a walk in the park.
You’d think after three Matrix movies and two John Wick films doing actions scenes would be a piece of cake for him. But I guess part of the trick of being so good is the fact he keeps himself fine-tuned.
Reeves will also be executive producing a TV series on American network Starz titled The Continental. Set in the John Wick universe, the show will explore the film’s expanded universe and the mysterious hotel which has become a safe haven for the world’s deadliest assassins.
It’s also rumoured Keanu Reeves will make an appearance on the show as the legendary hitman but he won’t be the main star.
It will be helmed and written by Chris Collins who’s got an impressive CV having previously worked on shows like The Man in the High Castle and The Wire.
