Outside of Frasier, Cheers and The Simpsons, it turns out that actor Kelsey Grammer is an extremely outspoken Republican supporter and, boy, did he make that clearer than ever in a recent Instagram post.

The 60-year-old took to social media to express support for a cause which is apparently close to his heart, modelling an anti-abortion T-shirt which likens the medical procedure to gun deaths.

In the controversial photo, Grammer posed in his kitchen wearing the shirt which bore the slogan: “Would it bother us more if they used guns? Abort73.com”.

Grammer’s wife, Kayte, posted the photo of the actor wearing a shirt from Abort73, an anti-abortion group founded by the Christian Loxafamosity Ministries, to her Instagram account, thanking the group for the T-shirt.

Last week, Kayte posted a photo of herself wearing a shirt with the same message along with the hashtag #standwithbabies.

The post comes hot on the heels of Republican attacks on Planned Parenthood, a non-profit organisation which provides reproductive health services.

While Grammer has been vocal about his conservative beliefs – calling himself “an out of the closet Republican” – he also previously claimed he was “pro-choice” despite not necessarily advocating for abortion.

However, his backing of this latest message suggests rather different, and many users on social media slammed Grammer for not recognising the damaging effects an outright ban on abortion would have.
