Kentucky Clerk Denying Gay Marriage Licences, Because God Overrules Supreme Court

The clerk of Rowan County, Kentucky has continued to deny people gay marriage licences, because God says no.

Kim Davis had originally asked to be excused from that part of her job on religious grounds, but was denied by the Supreme Court.

And now, despite the fact that same-sex marriage is legal, and the Court has directly ordered her to issue them, she has continued to deny gay couples the licences.

Davis wasn’t on the desk Tuesday morning when two same-sex couples came to get marriage licences, but they were still denied by staff on her orders, Gawker reported.

Supporters from both side of the debate gathered outside Rowan Courthouse to see if she would start issuing them.

When asked under whose authority she was refusing to issues licences on, she replied: “Under God’s authority.”

She now faces fines or jail time if she doesn’t start issuing licences.
