A man has been tragically killed less than a day after stepping in to pay for over $200 (£130) worth of shopping for a mother and her five-month-old son.
Matt Jackson was killed in a car crash and now the woman he helped is hoping to honour her good samaritan.
Jamie-Lynne Knighten was trying to buy groceries when her credit card was declined due to an anti-fraud block. Standing behind her in the queue, Matt stepped in and offered to pay her bill on the condition that she promise to do the same for somebody else.
Although they only met for a few minutes, Matt’s kind gesture stuck with Jamie-Lynn so she called the LA Fitness where Matt said he worked, to let the staff know what he had done for her.
However, when she was put in touch with Matt’s manager, she learned that he had been tragically killed in a car crash less than 24 hours after he had come to her rescue.
The shocked mother described Jackson’s good deed and what it meant to her in a touching Facebook post.
Matt’s mother, LeeAnn Krymow, said that her son was always helping strangers:
I knew my boy was like this, he loved to be kind. He was just a really special kid. So cute, so intelligent, so talented, an accomplished musician. You wonder why these things happen.
