GettyPut down the grilled cheese, ladies and gentlemen! Kraft has actually recalled a selection of American cheese singles because they’re worried people may choke on the plastic wrapping.
Now, you’re probably thinking, why don’t people just remove the plastic before tucking in to the delicious snack? Well, apparently, a small section of the plastic has the potential to remain stuck to the cheese even after unwrapping. Disaster.
The issue has already caused three customers in the U.S. to choke and 10 other complaints, according to a statement from Kraft.
On Friday, the company asked for the return of 36,000 cases of Kraft Singles American and White American Singles, although the affected batch is only the 3lbs and 4lbs sizes with a used-by date of Dec. 29, 2015 to Jan. 4, 2016.
FoxSeriously though, don’t even risk this one. Kraft issued a dire warning at the bottom of their statement: “Consumers who purchased this product should not eat it.” Step away from the cheese!
In the statement, Kraft wrote:
We deeply regret this situation and apologize to any consumers we have disappointed.
You’ve not only let us down, Kraft, you’ve let yourselves down. How are we supposed to enjoy our cheeseburgers with peace of mind now?
