In possibly the most ironic statement of the century, Kylie Jenner has said she has decided to ban all comments on her Instagram posts to stop ‘people self promoting’.
What’s that Kylie? You don’t like people shamelessly promoting themselves on social media to ensure people are aware of who they are and what they do? There’s a word for that, and that word is irony.
The 18-year-old reality ‘star’ posted a notice on Twitter, saying:
So I’m trying out disabling my comments on Instagram because I’m done w people self promoting & the “LB”s”.
LB, if you didn’t know, stands for ‘Like Back’ and is a common phrase used to request others to like their own posts in exchange for their own like. Basically, they’re the annoying people on Instagram who don’t really do anything but still want a bunch of followers.
This week, Instagram announced that they were giving those with ‘high volume comment threads’ the opportunity to filter or disable them completely. Obviously, the littlest Kardashian is taking advantage of this.
Kylie – like the rest of the Kardashian klan – is a prolific selfie taker who constantly promotes herself, her products, and her sponsors on her Instagram account. So, obviously, her statement has left the world a little confused.
And it’s not the first time she’s appealed to her followers to – to put it lightly – fuck off.
In 2012, she wrote:
STOP WRITING LB ON ALL MY INSTAGRAM PHOTOS AND USING ME AS A WAY TO ADVERTISE YOURSELF.
Charming…
Apparently, her quest to ban all comments has even lost her a few thousand followers in the process, according to The Sun – 40,000 to be exact.
And hilariously, her Instagram posts have now been bombarded with ‘Like Back’ comments, thanks to her ironic statement.
Well, I can’t say I feel sorry for her.
