Three-month-old killer whale Kyara, who was born in captivity at SeaWorld’s San Antonio theme park in April, died on Monday.
The park reported that Kyara, who was the last killer whale to be born at SeaWorld, died of serious health problems, including what is likely to have been pneumonia.

A post mortem exam to find the cause of death will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Julie, one of the orca trainers that spent hours caring for the calf, said
Kyara had a tremendous impact on each of her care staff, not to mention all of the guests that had the chance to see her. From late nights to early morning, rain or shine, we dedicate our lives to these animals, and this loss will be felt throughout the entire SeaWorld family.

Last month a newborn beluga whale died shortly after it was born at SeaWorld Orlando.
In May, a newborn Commerson’s dolphin calf died minutes after it was born at the Orlando water park.
The hashtags #EmptyTheTanks and #Whitefish are trending as opposition to SeaWorld holding animals in captivity.
Earlier this year Szenja, a 21-year-old female polar bear born in a German zoo, unexpectedly died in her habitat at the San Diego park after her companion of 20 year Snowflake was moved to Pittsburgh zoo.

SeaWorld has a track history for splitting adored animals from their loved ones. The phenomenal documentary Blackfish revealed all with how the business treated its Orcas causing its stocks and attendance to plummet.
Kyara died surrounded by SeaWorld staff as she was under 24-hour watch, and she had been separated from her mother Takara in order to receive care.
The young Orca was announced to be the last killer whale to be born in captivity as part of SeaWorld’s breeding program.
