Footage of a footballer knocking a woman unconscious has been made public.
The University of Ohio American footballer, Joe Mixon, has been embroiled in scandal after he punched a fellow student, Amelia Molitor in a restaurant.
The running back’s violent outburst, which occurred on 25 July 2014 at Pickleman’s Gourmet Cafe, has been hidden from the public until now.

CCTV surveillance shows the scene unfold, and the terrible consequences of Mixon’s assault have been released in accordance with a judge’s demand the footage be made public.
Molitor, who turned 18 the night before the incident, can be seen arguing with Mixon. When she initially pushes the young athlete, Mixon appears to loose his senses and he swings for Molitor’s head.
She drops to the floor on impact and in the ensuing minutes can be seen struggling to stand and stumbling over a restaurant table, her nose bleeding profusely, before making an exit.

After Molitor received surgery for the broken bones in her face, Mixon entered an Alford plea – a guilty plea to a criminal charge where the defendant does not actually admit to a crime but maintains an assertion of innocence.
Mixon received a one-year deferred sentence and was required to perform 100 hours of community service and undergo counselling.
Molitor filed suit in federal court against Mixon earlier this year. She accused Mixon of negligence, wilful and wanton misconduct, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

As a result of these accusations, the 20-year-old footballer obeyed a recent court order and released this footage, alongside the following statement:
Mr. Mixon asked us to once again say he is sorry for the way he reacted that night. He has apologised publicly to Ms. Molitor, her friends, his family, teammates and the University. He hopes that his voluntary release of these recordings will help put this matter to rest.
You can watch the assault unfold on YouTube, the footage published as a warning that violent, abusive behaviour towards women will not go unpunished.
It seems this warning has fallen on deaf ears; Mixon was not dropped by his University and has continues to play college football for the last two years, a position which typically garners great respect from the community.
