Try and act surprised – LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens has just been announced. Following the almost embarrassing success of JJ Abrams Episode VII, the new game is due to land on June 28 for all platforms, and looks… well, like a LEGO game.
The new entry into the brick building game series will be developed by TT games, the studio behind LEGO Harry Potter, LEGO Lord of the Rings, LEGO Dimensions, LEGO Emergency Colonoscopy and many more.
You probably know at this point what to expect from a LEGO game anyway… but intriguingly, there’s talk of story content that will bridge the gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens as well as an emphasis on blaster battles and cover based shooting.
The launch trailer (which you can check out below) does a lovely job of perfectly recreating the first trailer for the film, with a few humorous LEGO touches, of course.
The LEGO videogame franchise actually started out with games based on the original and prequel trilogies (that we still regard as among the better LEGO titles) so it’s safe to assume this one will turn out alright.
