The production company behind The Wolf of Wall Street spared no expense when they threw a ‘debauched’ birthday party for their leading man, Leo.
The company, Red Granite, reportedly spent an eye watering amount of money celebrating the Oscar-winning actor’s 38th birthday, back in 2012.
The Hollywood Reporter alleges that this includes spending $600,000 (£424,000) on Marlon Brando’s 1955 best actor Oscar and one of their sources claims that ‘over a million dollars [was spent] buying bottles that were brought out by scantily clad women.’
The information about the Oscar gift comes from The Wall Street Journal who’ve been looking into the Malaysia-backed finances of Red Granite Pictures.
The Hollywood Reporters anonymous source said:
It was pure debauchery… The Red Granite guys were having a competition on who could spend the most money on champagne service. They spent over a million dollars buying bottles that were brought out by scantily clad women, with sparklers on each magnum that were $25,000 each.
A representative for Red Granite however has denied the claims, saying it never happened, and to be honest while we believe The Wall Street Journal’s investigation into the company, we’re not one hundred percent convinced by the ‘anonymous source’.
Who knows though maybe Leo was just trying his hand at method acting for his role in the hedonistic hit.
More of a concept than a journalist, Tom Percival was forged in the bowels of Salford University from which he emerged grasping a Masters in journalism.
Since then his rise has been described by himself as ‘meteoric’ rising to the esteemed rank of Social Editor at UNILAD as well as working at the BBC, Manchester Evening News, and ITV.
He credits his success to three core techniques, name repetition, personality mirroring, and never breaking off a handshake.
