London Eye Evacuated Over World War II Bomb Fear

The London Eye and Waterloo Pier were reportedly closed after a member of the public found an unexploded World War 2 bomb nearby.

According to The Metro, who spoke to Scotland Yard about the closure, a member of the public believes they discovered the unexploded ordnance in the River Thames close to the Eye.

A spokesperson said: 

Police were called at 10:30hrs on Sunday, 25 June, by a member of the public reporting suspected WW1 or WW2 ordnance in the foreshore on the River Thames near to the London Eye.

Those on the Eye were evacuated and police placed cordons around the area but these have since been lifted.

According to the spokesperson the object remains submerged object  in the river and authorities will assess the device at low tide.
