London Mayor Sadiq Khan’s Response To Donald Trump’s Terror Attack Tweet Is Pure Class

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has responded to President Donald Trump after his critical tweet and it is absolutely perfect. 

Earlier today, the U.S President posted a damning tweet, berating the mayor for his response to the London attacks, when he said there was ‘no reason to be alarmed’.

It seems Trump was accusing Khan of dampening down the impact of the atrocities, which took place on London Bridge and in Borough Market on Saturday June 3rd, but appears to have taken the mayor’s quotes out of context.

In actual fact, Khan was not referring directly to the terror attack in which seven innocent people were killed and almost 50 more injured, but to the level of police presence which would now be felt on the London streets.

His initial statement to the BBC was:

Londoners will see an increased police presence today and over the course of the next few days. There’s no reason to be alarmed.

One of the things the police and all of us need to do is ensure that we’re as safe as we possibly can be.

I’m reassured that we are one of the safest global cities in the world, if not the safest global city, but we always evolve and review to make sure we’re as safe as we possibly can be.

Instead, Trump reinterpreted it that the mayor was implying people shouldn’t be alarmed over the serious terrorism incident in the city and posted a tweet expressing his hugely incorrect view.

Now, a spokesperson for the London mayor has responded to this and it sums up everyone’s feelings in one flawless package.

They said:

The mayor is busy working with the police, emergency services and the government to coordinate the response to this horrific and cowardly terrorist attack and provide leadership and reassurance to Londoners and visitors to our city.

He has more important things to do than respond to Donald Trump’s ill-informed tweet that deliberately takes out of context his remarks urging Londoners not to be alarmed when they saw more police – including armed officers – on the streets.

Armed police and emergency services were dispatched to London Bridge and Borough market after reports a van of a van swerving into pedestrians and stabbings taking place.

Prime Minister Theresa May has since offered her ‘huge gratitude’ to the emergency services and the Home Secretary Amber Rudd shared a message of thanks to authorities and condolences to victims.

She said:

I am extremely proud of and thankful to our police and emergency services who responded so swiftly and those who will work tirelessly as the investigation into this appalling act continues.

It’s good to see Sadiq had a fitting response for petulant comments from the American president.

Thoughts are with the victim’s families at this difficult time.
