Publisher 2K Games has released a new live-action trailer for Mafia 3, showing off a number of grisly hits being carried out by the Italian mob.
This new trailer – called ‘Death Suits You’ – sets up some of the open world game’s story as members of protagonist Lincoln Clay’s adoptive family are taken out.
As is the entire crux of the game, Clay responds by gunning down a member of the opposing mob in broad daylight, even attending his funeral after in what can only be described as a chilling baller move.
Again, there’s no gameplay footage to be seen in the trailer, but it does a great job of setting up the gritty 1960’s New Orleans depicted in Mafia 3.
The meat of the plot will see you take control of Clay as he returns from the Vietnam War to discover that the Italian mob has wiped out nearly everyone he loves or cared about.
The ambitious sounding title aims to create a fully realised open world experience, but still wants to deliver a tight, plot-driven adventure at the same time.
The game will tackle a number of heavy (and unfortunately still relevant) issues, including racism and domestic violence. From the footage released so far, it’s shaping up to be a uniquely rewarding videogame with a genuine story to tell.
Mafia III launches on October 7 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, with a soundtrack that features over 100 incredible classic tunes.
