I’d never recommend smuggling drugs because, you know, it’s extremely illegal, but I’d doubly not recommend it if you’re going to look nervous as hell while doing it.

Oh, and while we’re picking faults, you should probably find a better place to hide it than on the inside of your wig, too.

Unfortunately, it’s bit too late to be sharing these words of wisdom for one Colombian man who was stopped by Spanish police on his travels from Bogota to Barcelona.

The man attracted their attention when police noticed him looking extremely nervous when his flight landed.

When they questioned him, they noticed his wig, which was hiding underneath a hat, looked disproportionately big in comparison to the size of his head.

After inspecting the wig, police discovered the man had a package stuck to his head, containing around $30,000 (£27,000) of cocaine.

The fella had placed the toupee over the illegal package and put it under his hat in a bid to disguise the expensive sum of drugs.

Police took to Twitter to share the find and of course they couldn’t resist throwing a few emojis in there too.

The statement explained: ‘There is no limit to the inventiveness of drug traffickers trying to mock controls.’

To be fair to the mule, he might’ve gotten away with it if it wasn’t for his nervous demeanour, but not everyone’s got what it takes to be an international drug smuggler.

The tweet was complete with picture of the man with his eyes blacked out to protect his identity, still wearing the suspiciously big wig.

Police haven’t released any further information about the middle-aged looking man’s identity, however they confirmed he was detained by police at the end of June.

Last year, more than 100 kilograms of cocaine were seized by police at Barcelona-El Prat airport. Meanwhile, Colombia’s drug trade is estimated to bring in around $10 billion US dollars per year, which would explain why police were extra vigilant after the Colombia to Barcelona flight landed.

The anonymous man isn’t the only smuggler who’s made a hatchet job of their illegal trade.

Earlier this year, drug dealer Stephen Best was busted after brazenly stamping his own name on to his drugs. No, seriously.

The 30-year-old pleaded guilty to the possession of cannabis and four counts of possession with intent to supply drugs (cocaine, MDMA, cannabis and cannabis resin) at Brighton Crown Court on Monday June 3.
