A victim confronted the man who attacked him four years earlier, and ended up getting punched again.

The unnamed man was out in Cleethorpes at about midnight on December 23, 2017, when he spotted 34-year-old Reece Wilkin from Grimsby, the man who had knocked him unconscious on December 14, 2013.

Confronting Wilkin, the victim was punched in the face once again, losing consciousness and suffering broken cheekbones, and needed an operation to insert three plates.

As reported by the Grimsby Telegraph, Grimsby Crown Court heard how the man approached Wilkin outside a bar saying ‘Do you know who I am? I’m the lad you punched next door in Gypsy Tears’.

Only moments later, Wilkin punched the victim in an unprovoked attack, using all of his force.

The anonymous man’s face ‘ballooned up’ for eight weeks, with his recovery being slow.

In 2014 Wilkin was fined by the Grimsby Magistrates Court for the 2013 assault.

Admitting to inflicting grievous bodily harm in the 2017 attack, Wilkin was given a 15-month suspended prison sentence, 160 hours’ unpaid work and was ordered to pay £1,000 compensation.

He was also given a four-year restraining order.

Wilkin has previously been convicted for being drunk and disorderly in 2002 and for affray in 2006.

Saleem Khan, mitigating, told the court the father-of-two was out that night with his wife, and felt provoked by the victim who took it upon himself to approach Wilkin.

Khan told the court it was unwise of the victim to speak to the man who attacked him several years earlier, adding:

The trouble came to him. He didn’t go looking for it. He felt intimidated. He was under some fear and apprehension at the time.

But for the victim’s actions, this would never have happened.

Recorder Christopher Williams agreed the victim’s actions were perhaps ‘unwise’, and also noted the charity work done by Wilkin saying ‘You have done great things in terms of your life for the sake of others’.

Earlier this month one man punched another who allegedly harassed their ill mother.

CCTV footage recorded the incident which took place in Middlesborough, North East England, on March 3.

The video shows the mother, who suffers from fibromyalgia, stood outside her front door with the man, who was apparently harassing her.

A car then pulls up in the street, the woman’s son jumps out, and is seen confronting the man before knocking him to the floor.
