A man has been filmed violently pulling a shark from the sea, just so he could pose for photographs with it.
The guy – who remains anonymous – was filmed tugging the animal’s tail before pinning it to the sand, as a group of people began taking pictures.
The incident happened on Palm Beach, Florida, with the video being posted later on Facebook by WPTV journalist, Ashleigh Walters.
After more than a minute out of the water, the video cuts to another man trying to put the shark back into the ocean, but the creature struggles and appears to beach itself.
Unlike last week when a dolphin died after being taken from the sea and passed around for selfies in Argentina, fortunately it seems this didn’t also end in tragedy.
Walters added in her Facebook post that the shark was finally put into farther water and resurfaced a few minutes later.
After the death of the La Plata dolphin last week, wildlife charities believe that its death highlights the need for better public awareness on how our wildlife should be treated.
And if this video is anything to go by, that needs to happen as soon as possible.
