A man unwittingly streamed his own death on Facebook after being shot in Chicago’s West Side.

Antonio Perkins, 28, was reportedly using Facebook Live – which allows users to share live videos – when multiple gunshots were heard in the background.

Perkins fell to the floor in blood-stained grass, while screams were heard behind him.

Mic reports that Perkins was shot in the neck and head before he was taken to Mount Sinai hospital, where he was declared dead. He leaves behind three children, aged eight, six and two.

Authorities told the Chicago Tribune that the incident occurred on the 1600 block of South Drake Avenue around 8:45 p.m and they believe the video is genuine.

The Tribune transcribed some of the dialogue heard in the background. People described the horrific extent of the injuries, with one woman saying, ‘he’s choking on his blood’.

Police told Fox that Antonio was a documented gang member, though his father denied this saying: ‘He was a good guy and not involved in gangs’.

According to the station, Perkins had recently bought a car and was starting a new job at McDonald’s.

The graphic video has since been uploaded to YouTube and used by several media outlets.
