China has been engulfed in a flood of love during it’s traditional Mid-Autumn Love Fesitval, with social media following suit after the video went viral on the Chinese equivalent to Twitter.
On a busy Beijing subway, one man kneels before his boyfriend and proposes, as smiling onlookers applaud the couple. The kneeling man says ‘I want everyone I know or I don’t know to witness this, I will be loving you for the rest of my life’.
China officially de-criminalised homosexuality in 1997, and removed same-sex attractions from its list of mental disorders – compared to America where it was decriminalised in 2003.
The video currently has over 10,000 shares on Chinese social media site Weibo, and doesn’t look to be slowing down any time soon.
It’s a touching moment caught on camera, and hopefully more couples find happiness together during the festival.
