Some incredible footage has emerged online and has gone viral on Reddit today of a hammerhead shark being cared for by some concerned beachgoers.
The footage, filmed by one man and his GoPro, documents the moment his brother pulls the hammerhead shark to shore in Destin, Florida, before realising it’s actually quite injured.
According to the video description, the man originally pulled the shark to shore because people were still in the water surrounding it, however, upon closer inspection, the poor animal had several deep sea fishing hooks stuck in its mouth as well as steel fishing line tangled in and around its head.
With the help of bystanders, the man manages to get the hooks out of its mouth and releases it back into the ocean in what was an action that most likely saved its life.
Faith in humanity is restored, for now.
