MarvelMarvel Studios have released the first official images of Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Stephen Strange.
The Sherlock star looks appropriately mysterious for the most powerful magician in the Marvel universe.
The film is reportedly set to be incredibly trippy, as the doctor travels through other dimensions to fight the evil Baron Mordo.
EWKevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, has claimed that they plan to use the film to bring the supernatural into the so far technologically driven Marvel cinematic universe.
He explained:
I think ‘Dr. Strange’ would kick ass. I think we’ve done very well at the superhero genre. I’d love to get into that supernatural element.
I think that Dr. Strange could be a good way of being the lynchpin to that universe with Werewolf By Night, with Blade again someday – that side of the Marvel Universe.
Despite having a significant fan following, Benedict Cumberbatch has said he’s nervous about the role.
He told EW:
I’m thinking, there’s going to be a huge amount of speculation and intrigue over the positioning of that finger as opposed to it being there, or there.
And I’m still working on that. We haven’t played any of those scenes yet. I felt really self-conscious. But, then, by the end, it was great. It’s like anything, you just have to experiment.
Doctor Strange, will be part of Marvel’s ‘phase three’ project, which will also star Tilda Swinton and Rachel McAdams.
The film only started principal photography last month and filming won’t wrap until March 2016, with a release date set for November 4th 2016.

Personally, with Marvel in charge and Cumberbatch’s incredible acting chops, we think the film will be amazing and can’t wait to see the magician in action.
