Those hungover days when you sit in bed, longing for a McDonald’s chicken burger and settle for chicken nuggets from the freezer are no more!

The world’s number one fast food chain has hinted at offering a delivery service to its customers in the UK, U.S, France, Germany and Canada.

A statement from the burger giant has described itself as ‘uniquely positioned to become the global leader in delivery’.

Seeing as almost 75 per cent of people in McDonalds’ top five markets live less than three miles from one of their restaurants, delivering the food while it’s hot shouldn’t be an issue.

The statement read:

Because of our extraordinary footprint, McDonald’s is uniquely positioned to become the global leader in delivery.

One of the most significant disruptions in the restaurant business today is the rapid increase in delivery. Through technology, delivery has changed the way customers order, pay, track and receive food and provide feedback.

Coupled with the explosive growth in third-party delivery companies, the landscape has created an exceptional opportunity for growth.

McDonald’s is already one of the largest providers of delivered food in the world, with annual Systemwide delivery sales of nearly $1billion (£814million) across various markets including China, South Korea and Singapore.

China has tripled its delivery business since its launch in 2008. In 2016 alone, China’s delivery business grew 30 per cent.

The chain already offers delivery in China and Singapore, so hopefully apple pies and fries delivered to the door is on the horizon.

As well as rolling out a delivery service, McDonald’s has big plans for a mobile order and pay platform for smart phones.
