Table service could well become a staple at McDonald’s up and down the UK, after the fast food chain saw profits fall.

A trial is taking place at a branch in Manchester, and if it proves to be successful, will be implemented throughout the country.

The service is already available in Australia, Switzerland, France and Germany and if trials go well, will also become a fixture in the UK, something that will probably please the majority of McDonald’s goers in the UK.

The move is yet another step from McDonald’s to try and claw back some of their lost custom in the face of an increased amount of options for people who are eating out or opting for fast food.

A spokesperson claimed:

To meet customers’ evolving expectations we are investing in our restaurants to create an exciting new environment and improve the customer experience.

We are testing some new concepts, such as table service, whereby customers place their order via our new digital kiosks and then have their food brought to them.

McDonald’s have already increased the amount of ‘healthy’ options on their menus, although after looking at the calorie content in their salads, people might want to think twice before having one.
