Burger King have already turned heads with their Halloween Whopper, equipped with a black bun, and now it seems McDonald’s in China are getting in on the act, releasing a burger which features a metallic grey bun.
We’re honestly not sure what the thinking is behind this one. It looks like they’ve just whacked a slab of meat between two stones. Bon appetit!
Maybe it’s some kind of modern art style protest against climate change and pollution or perhaps the fast food restaurant has chosen to jump on the Fifty Shades of Grey bandwagon far too late?
And in coloured bun news, McDonald's China are doing fifty shades of grey… @BurgerBusiness pic.twitter.com/ZboKn18wbm

Whatever the reason, the sandwich itself comes with pretty standard fillings of a pork patty with bacon and Thousand Island/Sichuan-inspired dressing. It really doesn’t look particularly appetising though!
However, reviewers at Time Out Beijing got past this thing’s ugly appearance and, when they finally tucked in, they reported that they actually liked it.
If you want to try it for yourself, the Modern China Burger is available in China until November 3, apparently.
