If you’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting the wax museum you’ll be fully aware there are some wax models which are so bad you’d have to question what kind of references the artists were working with at the time.
Then there are those which are so good it’s almost scary…
Case-in-point the new wax models of soon-to-be-married couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, which have been unveiled today. They are so good it’s hard to tell the difference between the waxworks and their real-life human counterparts.
What’s even more surprising is the level of detail which has been put into the two models, the artist impression got it all down to a ‘T’. They even included the same attire the couple wore when they announced their engagement on November 27 last year.
If you’re desperate to see the likeness in person you can view them at the Madame Tussauds museum in Marylebone, London.
In case the two decide to fob off the royal wedding this coming weekend and elope to Las Vegas instead, where an Elvis impersonator has the legal authority to marry them, their wax models will make adequate replacements. I’m pretty sure no one will notice.
With only six days ’til the wedding, the world is waiting in anticipation to see what dress Meghan Markle will step out in, who will be invited and if Prince Philip will say something seriously inappropriate at the ceremony.
As for Prince Harry, he may be known across the globe for his ginger beard – but the envious collection of facial hairs will not be making an appearance at the royal wedding this coming weekend, apparently.
No, Harry’s ‘strange and weird’ (beard) will not be turning up for his big day on May 19, if he plans on donning his Household Calvary uniform that is, which many believe he intends to.
Why’s that then? Quite simple really. You’re not allowed to wear a beard when in the Army. While it may seem like an old and archaic custom, rules are rules. However, rules are meant to be broken, right?
According to the British Army website you are not allowed a beard unless there are exceptional circumstances which mean it is a necessity for you to have one – things such as religious reasons or problems with your skin.
Only two sections of the army are allowed beards. Pioneer Sergeants and members of the Special Forces when fighting behind enemy lines.
Speaking to MailOnline, Historian Hugo Vickers stated:
He’s not able to wear his Royal Horse Guards uniform with a beard. He does it sometimes but they don’t like it. That’s why when he took the parade at Sandhurst, he wore a suit.
However, as Harry is out of the Army now it is not certain whether the rules will still apply to him. Who knows? Who cares? Probably you if you’re reading this article. Anyway, we’ll find out this weekend.
