If you were thinking newly engaged Meghan Markle would be doing the rounds when and wherever in the lead-up to the royal wedding next spring I’ve got some bad news: you won’t.
That’s right folks, the princess-to-be will be staying out of the spotlight as much as humanly possible following their first official duty together in Nottingham last week.
Sure, we’ll presumably get her and Prince Harry’s visit to church in Sandringham at Christmas but that looks like it for the couple until the big day.
Why? ‘Cause they probably CBA with all you weirdo die-hard royalists asking them to kiss your babies everywhere they go.
Nah, but seriously, according to Entertainment Weekly, the palace says Meghan is basically preparing to bid farewell to her normal life before everything changes next year.
They said:
She intends to travel for the next couple of months, visiting her family and friends before she settles into her new life at Kensington Palace.
The happy couple spoke to BBC presenter Mishal Husain following the announcement of the engagement.
Meghan said the proposal was ‘sweet, natural and very romantic.’
She said:
Trying to roast a chicken and it just – just an amazing surprise, it was so sweet and natural and very romantic. He got on one knee.
One knee? This clearly wasn’t Harry’s first rodeo!
The prince added:
She didn’t even let me finish, she said can I say yes, can I say yes and then there was hugs and I had the ring in my finger and I was like can I – can I give you the ring? She goes – oh yes the ring.
The news was confirmed by Harry’s dad Prince Charles in a short statement delivered by Twitter.
It read:
His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms Meghan Markle.
The wedding will take place in Spring 2018. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course.
His Royal Highness and Ms Markle became engaged in London earlier this month.
Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty the Queen and other close members of his family.
Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms Markle’s parents.
The couple will live in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace.
Meghan Markle is going to be spending Christmas with the Windsors, and rumour has it she’s going to be breaking with tradition.
Regardless of whether we miss out on seeing Meghan in the coming months, one thing remains true: the royals and all their future children will live their lives completely privileged while the rest of us struggle to stay afloat.
We wish them the very best!
