Feuds in newsrooms are nothing new, after all most journalists are competing to get the best stories, most interesting interview or coolest opportunity to help make their name in the competitive media world.
But I don’t think I’ve ever seen two journos go at it over a man before, but there’s a first time for everything it seems.
Yes, that’s right, a West Virginian meteorologist has come to blows with her TV station’s news anchor after accusing the latter accused the former of flirting with her husband.
According to the New York Post 26-year-old Chelsea Ambriz cracked WSAZ-TV station anchor Erica Bivens’ skull and ruptured her eardrum after a fight in a bar.
Allegedly Bivens was out drinking with her husband Donald when the pair ran into Ambriz who began flirting with Donald but he turned her down.
Bivens whose relationship with Ambriz wasn’t the best, caught wind of her colleagues attempts to woo her husband and confronted her about it.
And when we say ‘confronted her’ we mean lunged at her, causing both women to fall near the bartender’s station.
Bivens hit her head on the way down and was reportedly rushed to hospital with hearing loss and a lump on her head.
Ambriz was later charged with misdemeanor battery and is presumably dreading going to work on Monday.
If Ambriz is still looking for a man when she gets out of court she could do worse than YouTube star, Douglas ‘FaZe Censor’ Martin who’s got a thing for meteorologists.
Martin was dating ‘the world’s sexiest weather girl’, Yanet Garcia, until a few months ago but he finished with her so he could focus on his career, his career playing video games professionally.
In a video, he explained his decision:
Yanet is an awesome girl, she deserves the best. She’s beautiful, she’s smart, she was an awesome girlfriend.
I know it sounds weird I’m saying all this…it’s just, I gotta do what feels right for me.
According to Martin, the pair had been getting along fine with Garcia even moving to New York to live with the pro-gamer.
Things took a turn though when Yanet decided to go back to Mexico to continue her job as a meteorologist and to pursue a career in acting and modelling.
Martin explained:
I supported her decision. She wanted to be a supermodel actress – chase your dreams, life’s too short. I’m playing Call of Duty full-time now and she wanted to take her job opportunity. I didn’t think it was going to be that difficult. Back then it was a lot easier for me to go out and see her. But now I have obligations.
I’m on a contract. It’s not like I don’t want to do this, this is the career that I want. I want to win a ring, I want to win a world championship, what I want in my life at this very moment is to compete in Call of Duty because I love it so much. I’m going to do whatever it takes to be a champion.
There’s only 24 hours in a day and I just didn’t have enough time to do what I needed to do.
For her part, Garcia has posted a few tweets about the break up where she thanked her fans for supporting her at this difficult moment in her life.
