Meteorologist Shuts Down Climate Change Deniers In Brilliant Video

Climate change is real – and The Weather Channel really wants you to know that.

A week after American news outlet Breitbart published a factually inaccurate article calling climate change a hoax, TWC decided to teach the right-wing, self-proclaimed ‘sceptical website’ a thing or two about scientific fact.

The Weather Channel, for those who don’t have it, is basically a channel that plays weather 24/7 – and they know what they’re talking about when it comes to meteorology.

In a post to its website, TWC called the Breitbart piece, which relied heavily on a story published in the Daily Mail, ‘a prime example of cherry picking, or pulling a single item out of context to build a misleading case.’

So what did Brietbart do to piss TWC off so much? Basically, they used an unrelated Weather Channel video to back up false claims that the earth is getting colder – and that didn’t sit well with atmospheric scientist Kait Parker and her team.

In response, TWC – featuring Parker – delivered a scathing video message on Tuesday breaking down each of Breitbart’s claims, including that ‘global land temperatures have plummeted.’

Parker says in the video: “Here’s the thing: Science doesn’t care about your opinion. Cherry picking and changing the facts will not change the future, not the fact ― note: fact, not opinion ― that the earth is warming.”

But ‘what’s worse’ than the Breitbart story itself, Parker said, is the fact that the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology posted the story to Twitter.

Senator Bernie Sanders was among those who mocked the House Committee for circulating it.

As Parker said in the video, ‘let’s make the facts louder than the opinions’.

Check and mate.
