WikimediaThe black box recording of missing EgyptAir flight MS804 suggests a fire broke out on board potentially causing its crash.
Those investigating the missing plane have finally extracted data from one of the plane’s flight recorders, confirming previous reports of smoke on-board, The Independent reports.
Egypt’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Committee also recovered debris from the front section of the plane, saying it shows signs of heat damage and ‘thick black smoke’.

Preliminary information shows that the entire flight is recorded on the FDR, from when it took off from Charles de Gaulle airport to when the recording stopped at the place of the accident at 37,000ft.
The recorded data corresponds with Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) messages referring to smoke in the lavatory and electronics room of the avionics bay.
GettyOnly one of two black boxes have been recovered so far. Both contain technical information on the plane including engine information and altitude.
Previously, data transmitted to EgyptAir before the plane disappeared had indicated multiple threats on board including fire in a lavatory and the main avionics bay.
