Investigators searching for the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 are now looking at photographs of debris that washed up in Mozambique.
An object that could be a part of the Boeing 777 was found on a sandbank days ahead of the second anniversary of the jets disappearance back in 2014.
The flight on March 8th disappeared with 239 people on board en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
Photos of the debris have now been examined by investigators in Malaysia, Australia and the U.S and they believe there is a good chance that it comes from the Boeing 777, according to NBC News.
It was found in the same part of the southern Indian Ocean where the only other confirmed piece of debris from the flight was found on Reunion Island in July last year.
Until today, about 75 per cent of the 46,000 square mile search zone for the missing flight had been scoured, without success.
There were several false alarms during the course of the investigation as well, which included a six-foot long metal item in the eastern state of Terengganu and a sonar search which had actually picked up a 19th century shipwreck.
Originally they had been conducting searches on the assumption that the plane crashed after it ran out of fuel, but it’s now believed investigators will revive the theory that the plane may have been brought down deliberately.
We can only hope that relatives of the missing passengers will finally get the closure that they’ve been waiting so long for.
