On the plus side these cleaners are incredibly good at their jobs, on the down side they have just destroyed a piece of modern art and forcing the closure of an exhibit.

The piece, entitled ‘Where are we going to dance this evening?’, was created by Goldschmied & Chiari who intended for it to represent the decadent 80s which were full of hedonism and consumerism.

Cleaning staff at the Museion Bozen-Bolzano in Italy became confused after a function was held at the museum last Friday night, and they entered the room full of empty bottles and streamers the next morning.

Sticking to their job description and the museum’s eco-efforts they began to separate the glass from the paper before recycling the lot. Oh dear.

Allegedly it is not the first time that something like this has happened, but having known there was a part the night before it is easy to understand where the cleaners were coming from.

A notice has been put up in the absence of the installation to assure visitors the work will be restored.

Hopefully the recycling isn’t collected on Saturdays in Italy.
