If you spend a lot of money on something, you might expect that it would be better than something that costs less.
Apparently not, as this guy found out in a rather embarrassing moment on a beach in Devon.
A video has emerged showing the moment a customised Range Rover had to be rescued from a muddy beach by a 50-year-old Land Rover.
The Range Rover got stuck after launching a jet-ski, and had to be winched to safety by the assistant harbourmaster’s old Land Rover.
The newer car was too heavy for the mud, having been customised. Being powered by a five-litre V8 engine and doing 0-60mph in just over four seconds doesn’t count for much in a swampy mud pit.
A witness on the beach said:
What’s the point in spending all that money, when it can’t even drive off road? It was really struggling, every time it tried to move it was digging more of a hole for itself.
It was great to see the flashy poser shown up by the old work horse, it was really fitting.
They don’t make them like they used to.
Edit – A previous version of this article claimed that the Range Rover in question was worth £200,000. This is not the case, and the article has been amended to counter this.
