The mother of Heather Heyer has said that she refuses to talk to President of the United States, Donald Trump.

Susan Bro said the White House had first tried to reach her during her daughter’s funeral.

She said that the calls since then have been ‘frantic’, but she will not speak with him.

Heyer was murdered after a white supremacist terrorist allegedly drove into into a crowd of antifa protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Heather’s mother told Good Morning America:

I understand that President Trump wants to speak with me, I’ve heard from his press secretary and a few other people, and it’s not that I’m trying to be callous, it’s that I have no interest in speaking to politicians just to hear them say, ‘I’m sorry’…

I’m not talking to the president now…

After what he said about my child, it’s not that I’ve seen someone else’s tweets about him, I saw an actual clip of him at a press conference equating the protesters, like Ms Heyer, with the KKK and the white supremacists.

This comes after Donald Trump said there was blame ‘on both sides’ for the attack.

At a press conference following the incidents in Charlottesville, the President said:

You had a group on one side that was bad and you had a group on the other side that was also very violent. No one wants to say that, but I’ll say it right now.

His response has sparked major criticism, with many saying he is drawing comparisons between the anti-fascist protesters and the Neo-Nazi who killed Heather.

Susan responded directly to this statement in her interview on Good Morning America.

She said:

I wasn’t there that day, but I will tell you that I’m pretty sure that’s the only person that ran people down with a car, so that level of violence didn’t take place on both sides, that did not happen,

Susan spoke of her daughter at a memorial service in Charlottesville, receiving a standing ovation.

She addressed the crowd, saying: “They tried to kill my child to shut her up. Well, guess what? You just magnified her.”
