A mum’s mistake has gone viral after a surprise visit to her daughter’s university didn’t go quite as planned.
57-year-old Deanna Pilling travelled to Utah State University for a surprise visit to her 18-year-old daughter McKenna, reports The Mirror.
When she arrived, she found that Mckenna wasn’t in her dorm room, so got on her bed and snapped a quick selfie – this is where things began to go wrong.

She sent the pic to her daughter alongside the message: “Look where I am! Where are you?”
Slightly confused, Mckenna wrote back:
Where’s that?? I’m in my dorm. Please tell me you’re not in someone else’s dorm.
Yep, Deanna had sneaked into someone else’s room and taken the selfie on a complete stranger’s bed.
After realising her error, the mum texts back: “I am in the wrong dorm omg.” Of course, Mckenna shared her mum’s hilarious mistake on Twitter and the story has gone viral.
Shout out to momma pilling for being hilarious and going viral on Twitter. Happy Mother's Day, love you. ? pic.twitter.com/9MXpvJsNwV

Speaking to Buzzfeed, McKenna said:
Every time I refresh my feed more retweets/favourites pop up, and now all my mom has to say is: “I wish I would’ve taken a better picture.”
To think that some people find their parents embarrassing…
