Prentis Robinson/FacebookA musician filmed his own murder on Facebook Live after a gunman opened fire on him near a North Carolina university campus.
Prentis Robinson was shot four times near Wingate University’s campus in North Carolina on Monday morning and streamed the murder.
The footage followed Robinson, who was in his fifties, discussing his birthday celebrations and an upcoming move from Charlotte to Atlanta, when an armed man approached and drew a gun.
Prentis Robinson/FacebookRobinson had been filming himself walking down the street using a selfie stick when he encountered the male shooter, who’s been identified by police as Douglas Colson.
The shooter approached wearing a blue and black windbreaker and brown Timberland boots.
Prentis appears agitated by the sight of his gun, and says, ‘You on Live’ repeatedly in a calm voice, before the shots ring out in quick succession.
Police HandoutPolice confirmed, following the murder of Prentis, the area was put on lockdown.
Union County sheriff spokesman, Tony Underwood, said:
We’re pursuing leads and trying to figure out what this is all about.
Prentis Robinson/FacebookSources have told Fox 46 Robinson had previously outed suspected local drug dealers on Facebook.
Prior to the fatal shooting, Robinson had been to Wingate Police Department to talk to the chief about his phone being stolen.
The police station is moments away from where he was shot. Robinson was found by police suffering multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Prentis Robinson/FacebookRobinson, who regularly filmed his day-to-day activities on Facebook Live, was mourned by friends on the social media site.

A warrant has been approved for Colson’s arrest.

The aftermath of the shooting was captured on Facebook Live by Lavish Reynolds and shows her boyfriend, Philando Castile, bleeding in the driver’s seat as an officer continues to point his firearm, report CNN.

She says in the livestream:
We got pulled over for a busted taillight in the back. The police just, just…he’s covered. He’s licensed to carry.
He was trying to get out his ID and his wallet out his pocket and he let the officer know he had a firearm, and he was reaching for his wallet, and the officer just shot him in his arm.
