A flaming UFO has been spotted in the sky over the UK – which will no doubt prompt fears from unnamed tabloids of illegal aliens flying through British skies without proper insurance and documentation.

The burning ‘ship’ was spotted by Mark Emmins after 1pm on Wednesday and he claims the oval-shaped object appeared and hung in the sky for three hours.

Tyrone Osborne, a friend of Emmins, managed to take a picture of the bizarre object and is convinced he managed to snap a UFO, The Express reports.

The two posted the pictures on Facebook along with a description of the admittedly odd – but probably not proof of alien life – object.

Mark wrote:

Today for the second time in my life I can honestly say that myself and my neighbour watched a UFO.

It was stood still in the sky for some hours and then decided to move and then vanish. We got photos too.

Of course it’s worth pointing out that Mark already believed in alien life before he saw this odd craft so I can’t help but think there’s a little bit of confirmation bias at work here.

As for believing in aliens, I’ve always thought we are not alone in the universe and hoped to see something that would make me believe they would visit us.

I didn’t expect it to actually happen.

While Mark and Tyrone both seem to believe the truth’s out there after their encounter, the vast majority of people weren’t convinced that this was an alien craft.

Daniel Northford wrote, ‘it’s a new type of jet’, while Wendy Seaman wrote: “Looks like the Enterprise. Are you sure it wasn’t a satellite, one goes over about 4ish daily. When its a clear day you can see it clearly.”

Steph Pommier backed the boy’s story though and wrote: “UFOs have been spotted since the beginning of Man. Just accept it. We cannot know nor control everything.”

While Steph’s not wrong, we don’t know ‘everything’, that doesn’t miraculously mean she’s right and it’ll take an awful lot more than a blurry photo of something to convince the majority of us that aliens visit Earth.
