Thanks to Comic-Con, we’ve been treated to a smorgasbord of new movie trailers over the last 24 hours.
We saw Wonder Woman, a promising trailer for Dr Strange, and a teaser of the new Justice League film.
And now, (and most importantly) there’s the new trailer for the new Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
If you still can’t deal with the end of the Harry Potter movies and books, look no further. While some may have worried the new film would have ended up as nothing but a cash grab from a studio that ran out of books to adapt, it looks like Fantastic Beasts is quite the opposite – in fact, it looks pretty damn amazing.
And the last official trailer may be the best yet.
Set in the same wizarding world as the original Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts takes place in 1920s New York.
The film follows Newt Scamander, played by Eddie Redmayne, a famed Magizoologist before he made his name, as he visits America.
Basically, he brings magical chaos to New York when he accidentally releases all sorts of magical beasts, and he soon gets involved in the witches and wizards of New York City’s battle with the New Salem Philanthropic Society, who want to destroy all things magical.
The final officially released trailer fills in exactly what we can expect from the film. Thankfully, it also gives us a chance to see more of the characters we didn’t know much about, like Colin Farrell’s Percival Graves – an intimidating wizard charged with tracking down Scamander.
YouTubeBut what really makes Fantastic Beasts unique in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter works might be the No-Maj (aka Muggle) angle.
As we see in the trailer, ‘magical beasts are terrorising No-Majs, and when No Majs are afraid, they attack’.
Meanwhile, Newt points out those magical creatures he foolishly lost have every reason to be scared, too: “They’re on alien terrain, surrounded by the most vicious creatures on the planet — humans.”
The new trailer shapes up the upcoming film perfectly, and I, for one, cannot wait until it hits theatres on November 18.
