New Horror Title Agony Could Be The Scariest Game Of 2017

By :

We all love a good horror game, right? Anything that can scare and/or repulse us, yet still keep us coming back for more is undeniably indicative of great design.

Agony is the new kid on the block that’s aiming to take scares and repulsion to new levels – going by the grisly trailer and gameplay footage, it’s looking like it’s on track to succeed in that endeavour.

Check out the trailer below, but I do have to warn you that there are some genuinely grim moments – this ain’t for the faint of heart. Also nudity.

Agony is billed as a first-person survival horror adventure in which we play as a tormented soul in the depths of hell – sounds lovely so far.

According to developer Madmind Studio, here’s a taste of what to expect in terms of gameplay:

The special ability to control people on their path, and even possess simple minded demons,  gives the player the necessary measures to survive in the extreme conditions they are in. By exploring hostile environments and interacting with the other weary souls of the hellscape, the hero will soon understand that there is only one way to escape from Hell, and it will require a meeting of the mystical Red Goddess.

If your interest has been piqued, you can check out an in-depth gameplay video below. Once again though, I have to warn you that there’s some really disturbing shit going on.

I don’t know about you, but I’m getting pretty bored of horror generic triple-A horror titles titles that bring the scares by throwing you into mundane locations like old houses and abandoned whatevers.

Between games like Agony and the brilliantly bizarre looking Scornit seems we’re about to be treated to games that are happy to turn the crazy up to eleven, and plunge us into properly weird, unsettling, and nightmarish worlds.

There’s no set-in-stone release date for Agony yet, but it’ll be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC sometime in 2017.
