A new Kickstarter aims to bring together hot tubs and hammocks in a marriage of maximum joy and comfort.

The ‘Hydro Hammock’, created by Benjamin Frederick, is designed to give you the “bliss of a hot tub” and the “freedom of a hammock”.

The genius invention is currently about one-fifth of the way to its goal on Kickstarter.

Essentially, the idea is to turn the hammock into a heated envelope filled with 50 gallons of hot water so people can enjoy a nice bubble bath wherever they may be.

The invention’s gas heating system will warm up water from a garden hose, a nearby lake or stream, or just heat water already in the hammock.

The Hydro Hammock is made from a resilient, watertight synthetic fabric and Oregon inventor Frederick reckons his piece of kit can hold over 700lbs.

A new Kickstarter campaign video shows the hammock in action and it’s seen swinging from trees, porches and even on the beach. The demo video also shows how many people can fit in the new invention and, if this footage is anything to go by, things get pretty sensual in a hammock/hot tub combo and chocolate covered strawberries become involved.

Frederick is currently asking for $50,000 (£30,000) on Kickstarter to make his water-filled hammock dreams a reality. Pledges range from $260 (£165) for a hammock for one, to $1,180 (£760) for the whole shebang of the hammock and water heater.

You can get involved here to help the hammock get off the ground and buy yourself next year’s must have Glastonbury item.
