It feels like an age ago that former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson ran out of chances at the BBC, with the infamous ‘fracas’ with a producer proving to be the step too far.
After a bit of deliberation, car fanatic Chris Evans drove in and took control of the motoring show. He was hailed as a hero for ‘rescuing’ the programme, which future was left in the balance after Clarkson was axed for punching a producer.

A Top Gear insider who did not want to be named told The Sun: “When Chris was hired it was like the problem of what to do with Top Gear after Clarkson left had been solved. But the problems keep on coming.”
Reports allege that Evans crashed a borrowed Jaguar on his very first day of filming.

It’s also been claimed that Chris is said to be facing extreme pressure from ‘nightmare’ BBC bosses, with some apparently meddling with editorial decisions and trying to make the show ‘a lot more PC’.
It’s been alleged that Evans is struggling with the pre-recorded segments that make up the majority of the show.
However, after these claims emerged the BBC have been quick to rubbish the rumours, with a spokesman for the broadcaster telling The Mirror: “This is all gossip and speculation and we don’t comment on such nonsense.”
