Get hyped for the Ratchet & Clank movie this month, because it’s looking brilliant. A new scene from the flick was recently released that shows us how the titular heroes met for the first time, and it’s every bit as charming as the games ever were.
Ratchet & Clank is adapted from Insomniac Games’ PlayStation 2 classic, and acts as an origin story for the two heroes.
As far as the dreaded videogame to film adapation goes, this is looking spot on. It just feels like Ratchet & Clank. It probably helps that the two leads are played by James Arnold Taylor and David Kaye, the very same chaps who lent their pipes to the characters in the games.
This new scene debuted at WonderCon, and sees Ratchet rescue his lil’ robot pal Clank from a wrecked spaceship. If movies have taught me anything, it’s that coming across a droid in the desert always leads to a great adventure.
You can check the clip out below. It clocks in at around a minute and a half, and radiates nostalgic joy in every frame (I’m super excited for this film if you couldn’t tell).
Ratchet & Clank hits cinemas on April 29. Before that, April 12 sees the release of a PlayStation 4 remake of the original game – and that’s looking absolutely gorgeous, too.
