New Toy Story 4 Trailer Reunites Woody And Bo Peep

Disney Pixar dropped the latest glimpse into the lives of our favourite toys following Super Bowl 53, much to the delight of fans.

Toy Story 4 was announced in 2014, surprising all fans who believed they’d watched a perfectly formed trilogy, tied up nicely with a bittersweet bow.

Since then, we’ve been left to muse over what sort of unexpected journey awaits Woody, and his band of drama-prone playthings.

After all, we’ve seen the gang go through more shifts and changes than many of us will experience in our human lives; sticking together through kidnappings, accidental donation, and even an emotional change of ownership.

Now, we finally get a very real glimpse into the adventure which awaits us this summer, which will undoubtedly tackle more weighty philosophical questions and ambitious angles than many upcoming ‘grown-up’ releases.

As with previous sequels – which took us to the exotic destinations of Al’s Toy Barn and Sunnyside Daycare – the Toy Story universe will continue to expand, opening up colourful new locations way beyond the toy box.

This time around, the eclectic group of friends will head on down to the carnival, where they’ll encounter cuddly yet wisecracking comrades, Ducky (Keegan-Michael Key) and Bunny (Jordan Peele), who perhaps already own the best line of the film. ‘To infinity, and my foot!’.

So the toys will be at a fair, and Buzz could be set to go home as carnival prize. You guys! Well at least Woody and Bo’s reunion is confirmed.

According to the IMDb synopsis:

When a new toy called “Forky” joins Woody and the gang, a road trip alongside old and new friends reveals how big the world can be for a toy.

As reported by Movieweb, Forky (Tony Hale), will grapple with somewhat of an existential crisis.

An anthropomorphised plastic spork with crude pipe cleaner limbs, and slightly frantic googly eyes, Forky does not consider himself to be a toy, with some echoes of Buzz Lightyear’s own identity struggle.

This is expected to be the very last instalment in what’s arguably the most imaginative franchise of all time, so expect to leave the cinema thoroughly frazzled and perhaps a little traumatised.

Speaking on The Talk in September 2018, Tim Allen – who plays the occasionally multi-lingual astronaut Buzz Lightyear – confessed:

I gotta resist getting emotional. I don’t want to give it away, but this is an incredibly great story. It is so emotional, it’s so funny, it’s so big, the idea they’ve come up with, I’m startled.

I couldn’t even get through the last scene. I would love to be a Washington leaker. I just can’t do it. I can’t give any more away.

They’ve got great characters but a couple of scenes toward the end were really hard to get through.

Tom Hanks, who of course plays Woody, has echoed this sentiment, describing the ending as being a ‘moment in history’ during an appearance on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show:

The way you record Toy Story, you’re in a room with the team that has created it. When I went in for my last day of recording, I wanted to have my back to them, because usually you’re facing him so he can look right up and you can talk about it.

But I didn’t want to see them and pretend they couldn’t see me. When I realised what they were going for, I realised, ‘Oh, this is a moment in history’.

Toy Story 4 will hit UK cinemas as of June 21, 2019.
