Nikki Bella’s sister, Brie, came out with some harsh truths for her twin prior to her planned marriage to John Cena being called off six weeks before they were to tie the knot.
In the latest episode of Total Divas, which airs on the E! Network in America, Brie makes a bold and shocking statement to her sister during a meal at a restaurant.
Filmed while Nikki and 16-time WWE Champion John Cena were still ‘happily’ engaged, Brie held nothing back telling her sister she was walking ‘on eggshells’ around him.
What starts off as a pleasant meal between the twins soon descends into a dose of tough love from Brie towards Niki when the subject of the conversation turned to their now cancelled wedding.
During their meal, Brie tells Nikki:
I don’t understand why you have to walk on eggshells with him with this wedding. It’s like absolutely ridiculous.
Nikki denies this, claiming:
No, it’s been a lot of fun [planning our wedding] so don’t make it negative.
However, her sister wouldn’t let the matter drop and continued to press the issue.
She told Nikki:
Sometimes you just tiptoe around John to not make him angry and I think that’s bulls–t
Nikki, rather naively, says:
Isn’t that what wives are supposed to do?
But Brie again goes on the offensive saying:
F–k no. I tell [husband Daniel Bryan] exactly how I feel all the time. I don’t hold back ever. It bothers me because I know what you want.
Niki explains to Brie her attitude is down to the fact she really just wants to get married and settle down with the actor and wrestler and doesn’t want to do anything which might jeopardise that opportunity.
But Brie fires back again, pointing out her sister has ‘made a lot of sacrifices’ for their relationship and it was ‘about time John started making some’. Nikki says Cena was making a sacrifice by choosing to get married.
However, Brie doesn’t buy into that logic, saying:
Oh boo hoo, I feel so bad for him. He’s freaking lucky to marry you and it bothers me that you’re going to sacrifice all of it just ‘cause you’re grateful that John proposed to you.
While the conversation appeared to have left some hostilities between the two, it seems the break up has brought the twins back together. According to Page Six, since Cena called off the wedding Nikki is back living with Brie.
Following the cancellation of the wedding and their eventual breakup, John Cena grew a very questionable post-breakup beard (which we all wish we couldn’t ‘see’). He also appeared on US breakfast show, Today, where he spoke out about the breakup in a truly heartbreaking interview – showing a side of the WWE superstar previously unseen.
In the incredibly moving interview, Cena talks about his ex-girlfriend claiming he’ll do whatever it takes to get her back.
More specifically he says:
I had my heart broken out of nowhere, for me it was out of nowhere, and anyone who experiences that knows that it comes with a series of bad feelings.
For anyone out there speculating what I’m doing with my life now, I still love Nicole, I would still love to marry Nicole, I still would like to have a family with Nicole. There was an unfortunate set of circumstances where our relationship ended.
There’s been a lot of speculation recently about me being seen in public and everyones thinking ‘oh John Cena’s enjoying the single life’. No. I was supposed to be married and have a honeymoon over these two weeks, it’s the first time in 15 years I’ve taken a vacation, and I’m in my house alone surrounded by these emotionally strong memories.
I don’t want anybody else. I love Nicole and I’m really trying to support her and trying to find whatever it is she wants, what made us fall apart in the first place, and in doing so I’m also trying to live but uhh I don’t have any other hopes other than maybe that one day we can work it out.
Later in the interview, Cena added:
She, I guess, needed a little time to find whatever it is she’s looking for, and at the risk of my own emotional wellbeing, and especially so close to that moment of ‘I do’, she’s gone, she needs to be happy.
I love her. I want to be with her. I want to make her my wife. I want to be the father of her children. I just want us to work.
However, the response from Nikki is probably not the one he was expecting.
When ExtraTV asked her about John’s emotional outpouring, an unimpressed Nikki Bella (with sister Brie in tow) admitted she didn’t even watch the interview, saying:
Wow! Well I’m speechless. Yeah that’s crazy.
Oh, that is so SAVAGE!
Expanding on her breakup, Nikki did leave the door slightly ajar for reconciliation adding:
I have hope… I’m at a point in my life where I feel like I kind of lost me and I want to find me and work on me.
I just want John and I both to live happily ever after whether it’s together or separate and I just don’t want us to go down the road in life and have regrets of like ‘I did this for you’ or ‘you did this for me,’ so I think it’s okay in relationships to take that moment.
I day I say my vows. I want to say them once and I want to fully mean them and so that’s what made me hesitant. Am I ready to say these vows?
Here’s a fun thought what if this whole John Cena-Nikki Bella breakup ‘thing’ is all part of some elaborate WWE storyline which will culminate at WrestleMania where he wins her love back in a Fatal-Four-Way main event between him, Brock Lesnar, AJ Styles and Booman Roman Reigns. And then they get married, Cena retires from wrestling, meaning he will no longer bury young upcoming talent…
