This huge, hairy, venomous beast has made it onto UK shores, just in time for September spider season.

A Huntsman spider, common in Australia, crawled out of a shipping container in Dumbarton, Scotland and straight into our nightmares.

Scottish SPCA Animal Rescue Officer Emma Bonner was called to the plant and machinery hire business on Friday morning.

According to the Evening Times, the company ships generator parts to Scotland from India and China, so this creepy creature must have hitched a ride from there.

A source told the Evening Times:

Nobody wanted to go near it, it’s obviously not from Scotland.

The spiders, which can grow up to five inches wide, are known by this name because of their speed and mode of hunting. They also are called giant crab spiders because of their size and appearance.

Scottish SPCA Chief Inspector Fiona Henderson said that if the spider bites you it will not kill you, but can be extremely painful.

She said:

We safely removed the spider and it is currently in the hands of an arachnid expert in order to identify the exact species.

This discovery comes after claims of sex-crazed spiders invading Glasgow homes as mating season kicks off. Not a great time to be an arachnophobe…
