The ‘Merc with a Mouth’ may have smashed all expectations by becoming both a financial and critical juggernaut but Olivia Munn is pleased that she had nothing to do with it.
In a recent interview with American Way, the X-Men actor revealed that Fox had offered her a role in the Ryan Reynolds-led film as Deadpool’s girlfriend.
Munn, however, made the decision that she didn’t want to play a passive girlfriend. Instead, she wanted to fight.
And, as Deadpool’s lady friend had no fight scenes, she turned down the role, instead taking up the mantle of Psylocke in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse.
She explained:
I thought Psylocke was always one of the most lethal characters, and I said, ‘Yes, as long as you’re not using her to be the eye candy. She has really powerful abilities.’ And they said, ‘Yes, that’s an important part’.
Meanwhile, rumours continue to fly that Taylor Swift is making a cameo in the film, after Sophie Turner posted a photo of Dazzler to her Instagram with a Tay-Tay reference.
Of course, Taylor’s management dismissed the rumours pretty quickly.
They said:
No, there’s nothing to it. I know where [the rumor] came from, because it’s my fault. [We] went to the show, me and those people, and then she invited us to come back and meet her afterwards. It was just a photo backstage at the concert, and that was the only time we ever saw her. That’s where that particular rumor came from.
Not that that’s stopped the cast trolling us…
