A man was killed and two others were badly injured on a Californian construction site after the workers disturbed a beehive.
The underground hive, buried inside a sprinkler valve, was disturbed when the contractors started levelling the ground for a new car park.
The angry bees quickly started swarming, some people managed to get away but a couple of the men were trapped. The victim was seen struggling to protect himself from the stings on the ground.
Workers managed to spray water from a nearby tank to ward off the bees, and the man was rushed to hospital in critical condition, but later died from his injuries.
Officials say the victim had an allergic reaction to the stings.
A beehive removal worker has said the hive appeared to belong to an Africanized bee colony.
