Picture the scene: it’s summer, you’re on the holiday of a lifetime and are currently chilling by a pool in the sun, cocktail in hand.

All of a sudden it becomes that little bit too hot to be sunbathing, so you decide to take a dip in the pool. Hell, you’ve probably even got an inflatable flamingo to help you along.

Next thing you know, a boat interrupts your serenity by sailing past you, causing you to jump out of your flamingo in fright and scream, ‘what the f*ck is a boat doing in my pool?!’

That’s the reality for people staying at the San Alfonso del Mar resort in Algarrobo, Chile, which has a pool so large that you can sail a boat on it. An actual boat, I’m not even kidding.

In fairness, people visiting the resort are probably aware beforehand that you can sail a boat in the pool (you know, because it’s a massive tourist attraction), so I doubt they’d be falling out of their inflatable flamingos in fright. But, still.

Once the world’s largest swimming pool in the Guinness World Records, as per Forbes, it looks out onto the Pacific Ocean and – let’s face it – is basically an ocean by itself.

The impressive pool spans a massive 3,324 ft in length (just think how many Subway footlongs you could fit inside it!) and covers an area of nearly 20 acres, as per TwistedSifter. Holding a total of 250 million litres of water, the pool is the equivalent of approximately 6,000 8-metre long pools.

As well as being able to sail an actual boat inside the pool, there are plenty of other water sports and activities that can be done in San Alfonso del Mar. Including but not exclusive to kayaking, aqua fitness classes, and scuba diving. There’s even a waterslide!

The resort also has South America’s only ‘roofed beach,’ as per Yahoo Lifestyle, which is housed in a glass pyramid and has heated sand. Not that you probably need it with the dreamy weather.

If that isn’t enough to sell you on the idea, you can also play a wide range of sports such as tennis and volleyball, visit a spa, and dance the night away in a nightclub.

But let’s be honest, with a pool that big you’ll never be getting out of it.

Now if someone will just pass me my inflatable flamingo I’ll be on my way.
