The first gameplay footage for Outlast 2 has arrived. As you might expect, it looks absolutely fucking horrifying.
Sure, running through a cornfield at night while trying to escape some kind of murderous cult might seem like a bit of a horror cliche, but developer Red Barrel Studios has absolutely knocked it out of the park here.
Seriously, the first thing you’ll notice is how incredible this game looks. Certainly, it’s the first time I’ve ever been impressed by a severed corpse on the floor. But it’s the attention to detail that works for Outlast.
Desperately pushing corn aside as you sprint through fields, having no idea what’s up ahead, seeing a torch light bobbing towards you in the gloom and knowing you’re gonna have to pelt it in the opposite direction – Outlast 2 wants to pull you into its terrifying world, and it doesn’t look like it’ll stop till your trousers are good and brown.

Outlast 2 is currently set to launch this Autumn for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. May God have mercy on our souls.
