After the horrific attacks in Paris overnight, the world has been left reeling.
Th tragedy is just hitting home – far too close to home – and understandably, emotions are running high.
However, while the vast majority of people and indeed organisations expressed their condolences, Paddy Power failed to realise a scheduled message that was set to go out could be perceived as making light of the horrific situation.

Understandably, there was a widespread backlash as people wondered why the message was sent out in the first place.
The betting company explained it was already scheduled in, but that did not stop a huge amount of negative publicity.
Apologies for any offence caused by a push message sent today. This was scheduled before we knew about the tragic events in Paris.

Our thoughts are of course with the people of France and those affected by this tragedy.
