Parrot Repeats Final Words Of Man Killed By His Wife After Witnessing Murder

A parrot with the ‘filthiest mouth’ apparently witnessed the brutal murder of his owner and even repeated his last words, in his voice.

The parrot, named Bud, supposedly saw Glenna Duram shooting her husband five times in a murder case in Michigan.

Glenna, who has been found guilty of murder, shot her husband, Martin, in front of Bud in 2015, before turning the gun on herself in a failed suicide attempt, writes the BBC.

The African Grey parrot later repeated the words ‘don’t shoot’ in the victim’s voice, according to Mr Duram’s ex-wife, Christina Keller, but Bud was not used in the court case.

Christina, who now owns Bud, said she believed the parrot was ‘repeating a conversation from the night of the murder’, which she said ended with a swear word.

Martin’s parents said it was possible that Bud had ‘overheard the couple arguing and’ was repeating their final words.

His father said:

I personally think he was there, and he remembers it and he was saying it.

His mother, Lillian Duram, added:

That bird picks up everything and anything, and it’s got the filthiest mouth around.

The jury found the 49-year-old guilty of first-degree murder and she will be sentenced next month.

According to reports, a prosecutor in Michigan had initially considered using the parrot’s comments as evidence, but this was later dismissed.

The prosecutor added that it was ‘unlikely that the bird would be called to the stand to testify as a witness during the trial’.

Hopefully Bud can move on from his ordeal.
